If you hear your computer making a clicking noise, chances are the hard drive is on its way out. So lets look at a few things we should do to learn how to repair computers that are making a clicking noise.
If your computer is running, then we need to IMMEDIATELY backup your important data. This can be done with a usb flash drive or external hard drive. The clicking noise is usually the hard drive spinning and stopping then spinning again. Traditional hard drives are nothing but disk(s) inside the enclosure like a cd spinning. If the computer is not running, then you are going to have to contact your local pc repair shop and ask about a data recovery option. This is only viable if the data on the hard drive is valuable as it can be very expensive.
So back to our running computer. If you have your flash drive or external hard drive, then click on the links below based upon your operating system to see how to backup your computer/data.
